Named after a 1960s accessories mogul, Los Angeles based designer Jana Feifer was born with a passion for fashion. After studying at the renowned Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, the Brooklyn native began her career as an entrepreneur, founding BLOOM in the early 1990s. The distinctive aesthetic of this promotional products development firm piqued the interest of such prestigious names as Donna Karen and Calvin Klein.
In 2001, Jana was determined to take her creativity and vision to the fashion world when she established her own line of luxury handbags. An instant success, these chic leather totes could be seen slung over the shoulders of fashionistas all over the globe. Adored by celebrities and the press alike, Jana’s designs captured media attention in such esteemed publications as In Style, Lucky and People. The line was even featured on the highly revered Oprah’s Favorite Things Special.
In the midst of Jana’s spiraling success, her world was shaken by a medical crisis. In 2005, the designer was diagnosed with skin cancer. After months of fighting the disease, physicians discovered yet another skin tumor. Due to the intensive treatment regiment that lay ahead, Jana made the difficult decision to put her handbags back on the shelf. Throughout the course her illness, however, Jana continued to dream big, constantly brainstorming ideas for the re-launch of her once beloved accessories line.
Having successfully defeated cancer for the second time, Jana Feifer is delighted to be making her comeback.
